What Zomato and Swiggy charge restaurants
There is no public rate card. Each restaurant's commission is set in its partner contract and changes with the city, your order volume and any visibility deals. This is what the charges look like on real weekly payout reports:
- Commission: about 16–30%The range Business Standard reported in June 2025. Swiggy and Zomato both charged 22% in the real weeks below. Toing, a separate delivery service from Swiggy, charged 16% on its own orders.
- Charged on more than the foodSwiggy charged its commission on the bill including the customer's GST, so 22% came to 23.1% of the food value. Zomato charged it on the food after discounts.
- Long-distance feesPer order, for farther deliveries: ₹35 on Swiggy from about 6 km, and ₹20–40 on Zomato from about 4 km, in the week below.
- Payment and membership feesZomato took 1.8% for collecting payments; Swiggy took ₹3.72 on each Swiggy One order.
- 18% GST on every feeRestaurants on the 5% GST rate can't claim it back, so it's a real cost.
- Ads and the discounts you fundBoth come out of your payout. In the Zomato week below, restaurant-funded offers were 17% of menu prices.
Zomato's report says its fees are capped at 30% of an order's commissionable value, and it credits back anything above that. Your weekly payout report lists every one of these charges.
A real week on Swiggy and Zomato
With the owner's permission, these are real weekly payout reports from a Gurugram dessert shop in September 2026, one from Swiggy and one from Zomato, as our payout checker reads them. The Swiggy report also carries the shop's orders on Toing, Swiggy's separate delivery service with its own commission, so Toing is shown on its own. Names and order numbers are left out.

Who pays GST on food ordered through the apps
Since 1 January 2022, Zomato and Swiggy collect and pay the 5% GST on food ordered through them, under Section 9(5) of the CGST Act. You don't charge GST again on those orders; both reports show it as GST paid on your behalf.
The 18% GST on the apps' fees is separate: they bill it to you and it comes out of your payout. The small TDS deduction (0.1%) isn't a cost, because you claim it against your income tax.

How to pay less commission
Delivery apps are good at bringing you new customers. The commission hurts most on regulars, who already know you and would order from you anyway.

How much commission does Zomato charge restaurants?

How much commission does Swiggy charge restaurants?
Swiggy also sets commission per restaurant. The real Swiggy week on this page had 22% commission, plus long-distance and Swiggy One fees and 18% GST on all of them. Toing, Swiggy's separate delivery service, charged 16% on its own orders in the same report.
Does Swiggy charge commission on GST?
On the Swiggy report on this page, yes: commission was worked out on the bill including the customer's GST, so a 22% rate came to 23.1% of the food value. Check the "Commission charged on" column in your own annexure.
What is the long-distance fee on Swiggy and Zomato?
A per-order fee for farther deliveries. In the real reports on this page, Swiggy charged ₹35 from about 6 km and Zomato charged ₹20 from about 4 km and ₹40 from about 6 km, each plus 18% GST.
Who pays GST on food ordered through Zomato and Swiggy?
Since 1 January 2022, the app collects and pays the 5% GST on food ordered through it, under Section 9(5) of the CGST Act. The restaurant doesn't charge GST again on those orders.
How can I reduce Zomato and Swiggy commission?
